Udupi, March 17: A row has broken out over the proposed “Samadhana Mahotsava” event scheduled from March 20 to 22 at the Mission Compound in Udupi, to be led by controversial Tamil Nadu-based missionary Mohan C. Lazarus.

Hindu Jagarana Vedike leader Srikanth Shetty has stated that the organization will not allow the event to be held. Speaking at a press conference in Udupi, he alleged that the program is a “conversion conspiracy” being carried out in the name of peace and demanded that the district administration and police immediately deny permission.

Shetty further claimed that multiple criminal cases and serious allegations have been registered against Lazarus in Tamil Nadu, including cases related to anti-Hindu speeches and hurting religious sentiments, with FIRs filed at various police stations.

He urged authorities not to permit the entry of controversial individuals into a peaceful city like Udupi, warning that it could disturb communal harmony. He also cautioned that if permission is granted, the organization will launch district-wide protests.

District coordinator Rajesh Uchil, along with leaders Ratnakar Amin, Guruprasad Naravi, and Vijay Kodavoor, were present at the press conference.
