In a culturally rich event held at the Krishnadevaraya Kalamandira in Bengaluru, renowned author and senior advocate Shashiraj Kavoor unveiled two of his latest Kannada plays—Nemmadi Apartment Block-B and Divya Jyothi, a theatrical work based on the life of Jesus Christ.

Bengaluru, July 20: In a culturally rich event held at the Krishnadevaraya Kalamandira in Bengaluru, renowned author and senior advocate Shashiraj Kavoor unveiled two of his latest Kannada plays—Nemmadi Apartment Block-B and Divya Jyothi, a theatrical work based on the life of Jesus Christ.

The event, organized by the Tulu Nadu High Court Advocates' Forum, was graced by eminent dignitaries from the legal and literary communities. Hon’ble Justice P.M. Nawaz of the Karnataka High Court officially released Nemmadi Apartment Block-B, while Divya Jyothi was unveiled by Dr. Peter Machado, the Archbishop of Bengaluru.

Speaking on the occasion, Archbishop Dr. Peter Machado commended Shashiraj for his sensitive and scholarly portrayal of Jesus Christ’s life. “Writing about saints or spiritual leaders from other faiths requires great care, depth of understanding, and a responsible approach,” he said. “Shashiraj has evidently done extensive research before crafting this play. The narrative is rooted in biblical authenticity and presented with clarity and respect. It is truly commendable that a non-Christian writer has presented such a compelling portrayal of Jesus’ life in Kannada, something rarely seen before.”

Also present at the event were Karnataka High Court Justices S. Vishwajith Shetty and K. Rajesh Rai, Advocate General K. Shashikiran Shetty, celebrated Tulu playwright Devadas Kapikad, and senior advocates Sudhakar Pai and Nishith Kumar Shetty—the key organizers of the event.

The program also saw the attendance of former Advocate General B.V. Acharya and well-known educationist and entrepreneur Dayananda Pai as special guests. Both Shashiraj Kavoor and Devadas Kapikad were felicitated during the ceremony for their significant contributions to literature and performing arts.

The evening concluded with a vibrant performance of the Tulu comedy play "Erla Guarantee Ath" by the popular troupe Cha Park, leaving the audience in high spirits.
